Natural Remedies for Bad Breath, Cavities, and a Beautiful Smile

Take care of your smile. Good oral health is essential. Bacteria and viruses are your mouth’s #1 enemy. The Academy of General Dentistry says kissing can help prevent tooth decay and cavities. It’s a great start, but there are many other ways to keep your winning smile.

Bacteria can cause bad breath, cavities, and gum disease. Today, I will share foods that can help you keep your smile.

Yogurt can keep away bad breath, protect teeth and gums, and block canker sores. A small study from Japan found six weeks of eating two yogurts a day reduced the bacteria and chemicals blamed for bad breath. An 8-ounce container of low-fat plain yogurt contains one-third of the calcium adults need.

You can’t brush, floss, and use antibacterial mouthwash after every meal and snack. However, you can drink water when you can’t brush. Rinsing with water could cut mouth bacteria by a third. Drinking water throughout the day also helps. Make a natural mouthwash cheaply. Combine 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda with a cup of water to keep bad breath at bay.

Cut bad breath with cloves. Cloves have long been chewed for fresher breath and toothaches, but dentists also consider clove oil a trusty remedy. Clean breath is another benefit. Drop a few cloves in your tea.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away, and the dentist too. Eat crisp apples instead of donuts, candy bars, and other sugary snacks. These snacks contain refined sugar, corn syrup, and other commercial sweeteners. These sugars build up plaque on your teeth and gums. But apples are naturally sweet and help fight plaque buildup. The fiber in apples acts like a scrubbing detergent on your teeth.

Buttermilk is full of calcium and Lactobacillus, good bacteria cultures that make it difficult for odor-causing bacteria to grow. Drink a little buttermilk to freshen your breath, or use it in recipes.

Get rid of cold sores with Swiss cheese. It contains lysine, an amino acid that may erase cold sores quickly and prevent future outbreaks. Lysine is also found in milk, lean red meat, eggs, fish, lima beans, potatoes, and other cheeses.

Try drinking cranberry juice. Cranberries make teeth too slippery for bacteria that make plaque. This may prevent plaque and tooth decay. Take heed: most commercial cranberry juices have too much sugar to fight plaque. Unsweetened cranberry juice is available. Your local health food store will have the best juices.

Garlic kills bacteria responsible for gum disease. The compound allicin, a strong antibiotic, kills bacteria, viruses, fungi, mold, yeasts, and parasites. Use garlic in a variety of recipes, especially Italian dishes.

Black tea kills bacteria that cause cavities. It also helps remove plaque-building microbes before they cause trouble. Drink the tea plain, as adding milk and sugar helps the bacteria fight back.

To prevent cavities, try raisins. Natural compounds in raisins block the growth of bacteria that cause cavities and gum disease. Raisins are a good source of iron, potassium, iron, potassium, and B vitamins. Try mixing raisins with raw sunflower seeds and nuts to make a trail mix.

Keep brushing, flossing, and regular dental checkups. Add these natural sources to help prevent bacteria and plaque buildup. Enjoy the kissing to prevent cavities and tooth decay.

Keep that beautiful smile!

Until next time,

Peace, Love, and Blessings ❤️
