Peace for Me

Sometimes we all need to get away from the rat race. Away to have some ME time. Last week I did just that. I took a trip to Washington DC.

When I arrived, I was greeted with a 57 degree day. Before the week was over the temperature was in the mid 70’s.

I drove by the gold lions, the current president had installed. As I was driving by, two older gentleman on motorcycles stopped and placed a No Arc sign at the site.

I have wanted to visit the National Museum of African American History since it opened. I visited on a Tuesday, not many people were there which made it ideal. I spent the entire day walking through it and took many pictures. Some of the exhibit halls were closed.

Having lived in the area some years ago, O noticed traffic was very congested. I later found out it was Howard University’s Homecoming weekend.

I contacted a few friends in the area, and got to hang out with one of them for a day. I also visited two of the local parks in the area.

I didn’t want to stay in a hotel and looked up Air BNB’s. I chose Lajuandas, I was not disappointed. Lajuanda and Jae built an Air BnB on the back of their home. Check in and out were contactless. I had a private entry and  patio area.

It was beautifully decorated and had an elevated deck with hanging lights and a fire pit. I ran into Jae a few times and each time he asked if everything was okay and did I need anything. The bathroom was fully stocked with various soaps, shampoos and conditioner. The color scheme was soothing and comforting. I could not have found a better place.

I felt calm, at peace, and left with an elevated spirit. I plan to return late Spring or early summer next year.

Lajuanda and Jae, I thank you for creating such a wonderful environment and  hospitality. I truly appreciated it.

I will definitely return!!!

Until next time,

Peace, Love, and Blessings ❤️
